There comes a point when we need to stop pulling people out of the river, but go upstream and find out why they keep falling in. Roots of Resilience asks: How do we become more resilient in the face of life's challenges? Through mental health awareness, practical outdoor activities, small groups, and in-person courses based in Coventry, we explore the core pillars of resilience, helping individuals build the strength, habits, and mindset needed to thrive.

“I have been coming to Men's Monthly for 12 months now, and I always get something from it. I have made some good friends, I feel a part of something again and it's really helping, - knowing that I can help other people who have been through depression too.”

Men's Monthly
“Saturday's at 9am is quite possibly the highlight of my week. I played football until I was in my late thirties. Since then, I tried to keep fit, but I found it a challenge and actually quite boring. However, I have been attending the Walking Football on the MUGA Pitch at Jardine Crescent for three weeks and it's given me back the enjoyment I used to have about playing the game. You may not be able to run after the ball, but you can still receive it and pass it with the same excitement as the original game. I'm beginning to see my fitness improve each week and for the first time in years, I'm not dreaming about playing football again - I'm actually doing it but this time in my fifties.”

“I had been looking to get involved with a club for a while but due to several factors it hasn’t been possible. I did some research and decided that i wanted to try out walking football, but more importantly to me, in a place that was supportive, encouraging and safe. I found the Roots of Resilience group and was interested as the values that they operate are aligned to my own. Since attending the sessions, I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience but more importantly, found that this weekly session helps support my mental health. The sessions are fun, welcoming and more importantly safe.”
